Captain Cook vs Captain Cook

They lived 250 years apart; one an explorer – the other a Test Cricketer.

Both rose through the ranks to lead their band of men.

Both went ‘on tour’ for lengthy periods and returned to Britain as more successful leaders.

Captain James Cook discovered Australia and planted the Union Jack in New South Wales. Captain Alastair Cook conquered Australia and planted his front foot down the track on his way to 766 Ashes series runs.

Captain James Cook led the HMS Endeavour. Captain Alastair Cook’s main strength is endeavour.

Captain James Cook circumnavigated his way round the Earth and observed the extremely rate transit of Venus from Tahiti. The stars must have also aligned for Alastair Cook who has led his men to an uber-rare 2-1 Series lead in India.

Captain James Cook is most famed for exploring new waters and circumnavigating the globe. Captain Alastair Cook has entered waters unknown to any previous English batsman having circumnavigated his way to 23 Test centuries all across the globe.

Captain James Cook was eventually killed and eaten by natives in Hawaii.

The end.
